General appearance
Firm type in constitution. Above average size with rectangular frame. In body shape, movements, coat texture, colour of coat and mask, similar to the wolf.

Important proportions

    Length of body:  Height at Withers = 10:9
    Length of muzzle:  Length of cranial region = 2:3

Lively, very active, capable of endurance, docile with quick reactions. Fearless and courageous. Suspicious, yet does not attack without cause. Shows tremendous loyalty towards his master. Resistant to weather conditions. Versatile in his use.

Symmetrical, well muscled. Seen from the side and from the front above, it forms a blunt wedge. Sex should be unmistakable.

    Eyes:  Small, slanting, amber coloured. Close fitting lids.
    Ears:  Pricked, thin, triangular, short (i.e. not longer than 1/6th of height at withers); the lateral point of the set on of the ears and the outer corner of the eyes are in a direct line. A vertical line from tip of ear would run close along the head.

    Front:  Forelegs are straight, firm and dry. Close set with slight out-turned paws.
    Shoulders:  Scapula is placed ahead (pronounced) and is well covered by muscles. It makes an angel at 65 degrees to horizontal.

    Frontpaws:  Big and slightly turned outwards. With long, arced toes and strong dark claws.
    Hind part:  Powerfull, hindlegs are placed parallel. A vertical line from the hip bone will pass through the center of the hock.
    Thighs:  Long, well muscled. Makes an angel to the pelvis at about 80 degrees. The hipjoint are steady and is mobile.
    Stifle:  Powerfull and very mobile.
    Second thigh:  Long and dry with muscles. Makes an angle about 130 degrees to the pastern.
    Hock:  Dry, strong and very mobile.
    Pastern:  Long, dry placed nearly horizontal.
    Paws:  Pretty long, arced toes with strong dark claws. Well developed pads.

Harmonious, mobile and "groundwinning" trot, during which the legs are being moved as close as possible to the ground. Head and neck are kept close to vertical. Ambling pace then pace.
